VISIT OF THE CANTABRIAN OBSERVATORY OF HUMAN RIGHTS FOR THE SAHARA

On the 19th, our colleague Adriana Villegas Rey, traveled with a representation of the Cantabrian Observatory of Human Rights for the Sahara, to the Algerian Hamada to test on the ground the harsh situation of the Saharawi people in the occupied territories.

Throughout this trip, Adriana has held important meetings for the pillars of the work of the Observatory.

The Cantabrian Human Rights Observatory for Western Sahara was created last year with the coordination of a group of lawyers from the community and the Alouda Cantabria association with the Polisario Front Delegation in Cantabria.

The observatory has two objectives. On the one hand, the study and analysis of the non-autonomous territory of Western Sahara, in everything related to its history, its culture, knowledge of the population, language and administration of the territory, which contributes to the Cantabrians do not forget the Saharawi people, the ties that have united us and unite us with him and keep them in mind.

And on the other hand, from a legal point of view, it was born for the defense, promotion and care of the observance of Human Rights proclaimed by the Universal Declaration of the United Nations and specified in different resolutions of the United Nations; as well as for the wide denunciation of their violations, going to the instances, forums and Courts that are necessary for that purpose.

Congratulations, mate!
